D&J Precision is a machine shop that builds crate engines and cylinder heads for the diesel performance industry. They reached out to FlexArm, looking for a better way to tap cast iron parts. Since they are located in Ohio, they took the trip to the Flex Machine Tools facility, to test out the FlexArm for themselves. They were looking for an arm that could handle tap sizes ranging from M6 up to M24. The part requires both vertical and horizontal tapping capabilities, so the GHM-18 hydraulic arm with a multi-head was chosen for this application. A mechanical depth stop was also added to the arm, to ensure they were maintaining consistent thread depths every time.
The GHM-18 was able to handle the whole range of tap sizes that are used in their shop on a day to day basis. They were happy with the way the FlexArm performed on their parts, so they went ahead and took the arm home with them that day.
